Langmusi was the third stop on our overland trip between Lanzhou
and Chengdu. From Xiahe we had stopped overnight in Hezuo to meet fellow
VSO volunteers Karen and Patrick.

Pony Trek

Riding across the wide open spaces of the Langmusi grasslands (above left). Edie
getting up close to yak milking operations (above right).

Langmusi is situated in the heart of the Grasslands at 3300m, right on the
border between Sichuan and Gansu. It has two monasteries - one in each province.
Pictured on the left is a prayer hall in the southern (Sichuan) one - Dachang
Lamo Kerti Gompa. From here it's possible to walk up to the southern source of
the White Dragon River.

Beyond the monastery the NaMo Gorge leads away up into the mountains (L). Back
in Langmusi, the hot water for our tea flasks was boiled by the heat of the sun
(R).
