Our Mid-Autumn Holiday in Kunming
In the taxi to the bus station. A 'luxury coach' carried us along the new highway for 6 1/2 hours with a 20 minute break in Mo Jiang for some fast food (rice, veggies and a yummy soup).
West Pagoda
Boating in Green Lake Park (left) and a friendly vendor with her grand-daughter
Edie and a friend at the Golden Temple
Dragon Gate (Long Men)
Tunnels carved out from the cliffs by dedicated monks in 1781
The Temple of
Divine Parents
The cable car descent from the Western Hills back to the outskirts of Kunming
Yuan Tong Temple
Incense and tortoise ponds
The Kunming fur trade in the Old Quarter
Daisy chains and naps
Street noodle bar Apart from the odd bowl of instant
porridge in our hotel room, most breakfasts and dinners were purchased from the
multitude of street food sellers outside the hotel. Easy to over-dose on fat and
sugar though - especially from the sausage and egg-filled fried wraps or the
banana fritters drizzled with condensed milk!! |
